How Many Bids Can I Make Per Block?

Handshake does not limit a wallet to one bid per block. What matters is whether Bob creates separate transactions or one Auction Basket transaction.

Short Answer

A normal one-at-a-time bid is one bid in one transaction—not one permitted bid per block. You can submit more than one, but each transaction is confirmed independently. Several may appear in the same block, or only one may appear in that block.

In current Bob LearnHNS, Auction Basket can place up to 20 name bids in one transaction. If that transaction confirms, all included bids confirm together in the same block.

Why Do Several Separate Bids Sometimes Land Together?

Blocks contain transactions, not a one-bid-per-wallet slot. If you broadcast several individual bid transactions before a block is mined, a miner may include several of them in that block.

They are still independent transactions. Broadcast timing, transaction dependencies, propagation, fees, and miner selection can affect when each one confirms. Bob cannot promise that separate bids will land in the same block—or even the next block. This is why seeing three bids in one block once and only one in another block is normal.

When to Use Auction Basket

Use Auction Basket when several names are already in the BIDDING phase and you want their bids grouped into one transaction.

  1. Open Auction Basket in Bob LearnHNS.
  2. Add or paste the names you want to bid on. A basket can contain up to 20 names.
  3. Enter the true bid and blind amount for every name.
  4. Review the total lockup, available balance, and the earliest bidding deadline.
  5. Submit once and wait for the transaction to appear. Do not submit the same basket again while Bob is synchronizing or rescanning.

Important Limits and Timing

  • Current basket limit: 20 names per transaction in Bob LearnHNS.
  • Wallet support: Auction Basket currently requires a standard hot wallet; watch-only, Ledger, and multisig wallets are not supported.
  • Bidding phase only: every included name must already be in its BIDDING phase.
  • No next-block guarantee: grouping bids guarantees they share a transaction, not that a miner will include it in the next block.
  • Leave time: do not wait until the final blocks of the bidding phase. A late or unconfirmed bid may miss the deadline.
  • Reveals still matter: every bid must be revealed during the reveal phase. Check Your Bids → Need Reveal.

Which Method Should I Choose?

For one name, Bid Now is fine. For several names, Auction Basket is easier to review and gives you one transaction to monitor. Continue to use individual bids if your wallet type does not support Auction Basket.

Before retrying any bid, check Bob's transaction history and the name's status. If a transaction ID already exists, wait for its status to become clear so you do not accidentally create another bid.
