No. Original Bob is one line: 0.6.x around 2021, last frozen official build 2.1.0 in 2024. Bob LearnHNS 2.3.x is the maintained fork (separate app name and data folder). You are on the last original Bob. Upgrade to LearnHNS.
Install Bob LearnHNS, fully quit original Bob, then Import a wallet → Import Your Seed Phrase inside the official app. You do not need Terminal, PowerShell, or the old data folder. Never paste a seed in chat. Keep the old Bob app and folder as a backup; do not delete them.
The website is current. Current LearnHNS 2.3.9 still shows a stale macOS copy box. Ignore it. Use Import a wallet. That box will be removed in a later LearnHNS release.
Skip the old folder. Fresh LearnHNS SPV does start from 0%. That bar is lightweight header sync plus the helper, not a full node eating the whole chain. First run still takes a bit. It is still far faster than full node. After you import the seed there is a second wait: wallet restore/scan. Names and old bids can keep appearing. If it asks when you first used the wallet, pick a year at or before 2021. Leave it open until it says synchronized. Do not switch to full node to make it faster.
It was a same-computer shortcut, not a real upgrade. LearnHNS uses a different app folder. Copying also brought stale SPV/helper state, empty name details, and port fights. Command-line copy failed a lot across operating systems. The seed is the wallet. Folder copy only works if the old folder is still on this machine.
Fair point. Re-typing a seed has a real risk (keylogger, clipboard, screenshot). Copying an already-encrypted Bob folder does not put the words on screen. We still do not lead with copy because it kept breaking upgrades, not because typing a seed is the safer ritual. If you will not type the seed and the old folder is on this same trusted computer and same OS, the optional copy on the migrate page is for that. Safer seed restore: only inside official LearnHNS, type the words, no cloud paste, no screenshots, no chat. A compromised PC can steal either path.
An xpriv is as sensitive as the seed. Pasting it is not safer. LearnHNS can import seed, xpriv, or encrypted master-key JSON, but original Bob 2.1.0 has no normal Settings export for those. Reveal seed phrase shows the mnemonic. View Account Key is an xpub (read-only), not an xpriv. Master-key JSON download is only in the rare seed-phrase-mismatch backup. Backup WalletDB is not the LearnHNS master-key import format.
No. That is not a supported migrate. Paths and chain/SPV files are not a cross-OS copy. Change operating systems by restoring the seed in LearnHNS on the new machine. Optional folder copy is same computer, same OS only.
Wait first. Those are two different jobs. SPV chain sync (headers + helper) can sit around 50% while the wallet starts a rescan from the restore height. Rescanning 0% is common at the start: the wallet cannot run ahead of the chain, and the percent often stays at 0 until the first batch of blocks is processed. It is still using SPV, not a full node. Leave LearnHNS open. Do not switch to full node. Do not click Rescan Auction. Do not restore the seed again. Do not delete the data folder. If chain height and rescan percent have not moved at all for about 20–30 minutes, fully quit LearnHNS (not just the window) and open it once. After restart it should continue; do not import the seed a second time. If it is still frozen, confirm original Bob is quit and Settings → Network & Connection → SPV Helper API is https://spv.learnhns.com/hsd.
